Student: remember the annual review of general housing allowance!

General Housing allowance of Kela is reviewed annually, after a year it’s been granted or checked the previous time. Kela will send a letter to remind about getting the allowance checked. You can apply for the review either online or with the form AT1e.

You should apply the annual review as soon as possible. For example, if you need to review your housing allowance by 1st of August, your application needs to be at Kela by 15th of July. You can see the due date for sending in your application from the letter of Kela.

If you do not apply for the review on time, the housing allowance gets discontinued. You will receive a decision letter about it at home. You can still apply for the review after the housing allowance is discontinued, but you need to do it as soon as possible.

In addition to annual review, you need to apply for additional review if circumstances in your household change. Such changes can be for example changes in income, moving to new apartment or changes in household.
