Networking, new friends, valuable work experience, representative duties, study credits, memorable moments – these are just some of the things you can expect from serving on the OSAKO board. If you feel like working in our board would suit you, apply now – the application period is open until 1.12.!
The OSAKO board is a team of 6–8 students who are responsible for the daily operations of the student union (together with the staff). Board members organize events, monitor student benefits, coordinate tutoring and international student activities, participate in various meetings and workshops, and take a stand on current issues affecting students.
What does being on the board require?
The OSAKO board is a so-called working board. This means that board work requires a fairly significant time commitment: the board’s task is to run the daily activities of the student union, which naturally requires board members to be available to do board work several days a week, and even every day during busier periods. However, this is not volunteer work, as board members are paid a year-round salary (except in June and July). The monthly salary is 400-600€, depending on the board role.
When applying for a position on the board, it is important to consider whether your personal circumstances allow you to devote enough time to the role. However, with good time management, it is possible to complete some studies and/or other work alongside your board duties.
In addition to time resources, we require board members to be committed to OSAKO’s values: We are a student union that promotes the well-being and interests of students and wants to treat all students as equals. Therefore, we do not tolerate any form of discrimination, harassment, or bullying.
The new board’s term will begin in January 2026. New members will be introduced to the activities, and the timing of the introduction will be agreed upon later. The new board will divide its own areas of responsibility, or so-called board positions, at the board’s organizational meeting.
How to apply?
The new board is elected at the meeting of Body of Representatives at Valkama on 1.12. at 4:30pm. You can apply for the board either in advance or at that meeting.
If you are submitting your application in advance, please send it to osako@osakoweb.fi by 12pm on 1.12. Please include the following information in your application:
Why are you applying to the board?
Which board position interests you and why?
Why should you be elected to the board?
Board work is largely about working together. How would you describe your teamwork skills?
What kind of experience do you have that would be useful for board work?
If you decide to run for a position at the meeting, be prepared to answer at least to the questions above.
