May Day Week 2023

It’s here. Now. May (day) we introduce you – May Day Week’s Schedule 2023!

The wait is finally over! OSAKO and Oamk’s Student Associations planned the schedule together, so as always, this year the May Day Week is full of events, all the way from Monday to Saturday. Don’t forget to collect May Day Week’s overall patch -set – this year we have 8 patches in total to get from the events!

EVENTS

MONDAY 24.4.

VIVA LA WABU – OTE

Viva la wabu starts the week! This orientation by OTE is the chilliest orientation ever: You and your team have two days to compete (MON-WED9, so you can do the orientation whenever it suits you. The start of the orientation, however, will be at Kiikeli on 24.4. at 2pm. The best teams will be announced on Sunday’s (30.4.) livestream. More information coming to OTE’s Instagram!

MAYDAY – OTE

Welcome to start May Day Week at the Ote’s Mayday party at Mango! The party starts at 22:00 and continues the whole night. Tickets go on sale in advance on KideApp on 17.4., 2€ for the price. Welcome to start May Day with a bang! Mayday is part of the May Day patch set.

TUESDAY 25.4.

KAARLE’S MAY DAY TAKEOVER – OSASTO

Let’s continue the week with Kaarle’s May Day Takeover! The evening starts at 10pm at Kaarlenhovi, where’ll be pub quizes starting from 11pm. If you wish to play, be there early! The prizes for the evening are sponsored by Kaarlenholvi. Tickets go on sale at KideApp on Thursday 13.4. and they cost 2€. You can get a May Day patch from this event.

WEDNESDAY 26.4.

OPENING OF THE BARBECUE SEASON – KULTTI & LUVA

Let’s open the barbecue season! Welcome to celebrate the opening of the barbecue season in Kiikeli on 26.4. with Kultti and Luva! Let’s enjoy (hopefully warm and sunny) spring day together. There’ll be a limbo competition and free sausages. You can also get a May Day patch to your set from this event!

DAD PARTY – ARKKO

After all the barbecue fun, it’s only logical to keep the party going as dads do. Put on your best dad outfit and come to Heidi’s Bier Bar! Tickets go on sale on KideApp 19.4. at 1pm.

THURSDAY 27.4.

DAY DISCO – OUTO

Welcome to OUTO’s Day Disco, the earliest party of the year! Get ready to dance to disco music in Kaarle from 12pm to 4pm. For the hungry ones, there’ll also be food tickets available with the price of 10 euros. The food will be served by Kauppuri 5 from 12pm to 3pm. After the dances, the muscles are well warmed up for pushing the Tynskä! The tickets will be sold in advance on KideApp starting on 17.4. at 1pm. There are a limited number of patches for the Day Disco, so be quick!

PUSHING OF TYNSKÄ – OIO

It’s time to push the Tynskä again! Tynskä (OIO’s beloved barrel sauna) will be pushed to the center of Oulu and back on 27.4. The journey starts at 4pm from Villa Kaljaasi (Kaljaasintie 8), goes around Oulu and ends back to Kaljaasi, where the evening continues with sauna, refreshing drinks and sausages. You can also get a patch to you patch set from this event!

WHAT DOES IT COST? Nothing!
WHY? It’s one of the most legendary events of the May Day week!

FRIDAY 28.4.

CLOTHES OFF!…FROM THE CLOSET -SITSIT – OSAKO

We all have that one piece of clothing that we never get to use – overly fancy glitter shirt, that one pair of jeans that your mom gifted and you just didn’t have the heart to throw away, an old masquerade costume from your high school parties… whatever it is, now it’s time to let it shine at OSAKO’s clothes off!…from the closet -sitsit! These sitsit will be held 28.4. at Raatin nuorisotalo, and you can also get a patch for your patch set from this event. There’ll also be an afterparty that’s open for everyone, more information about that down below!

The ticket sales start 14.4. at 3pm on KideApp.

THE AFTER PARTY

When the OSAKO’s Clothes Off!-sitsis come to an end, the night is not over: It continues with an after party at Heidi’s Bier Bar!

After party is open for everyone, doors open at 10pm. If you were at sitsis, you get in free by showing the sitsi patch. If not, tickets cost 3€ (+cloackroom). The amount of pre-tickets is once again very limited, so buy yours quickly! Ticket sale starts 21.4. at 3pm on KideApp.

Dresscode is the same as the sitsis – wear something that you never get to wear, wheter it’s a fancy dress or an old masquerade costume. Also overalls are (of course) okay!

SATURDAY 29.4.

OSAKO’S ORIENTEERING

Like always, also this year’s May Day week gets it’s climax on 29.4., when the famous OSAKO’s orienteering takes over Oulu! Gather your team (max. 5  people) and go compete against other teams for the kingship of May Day orienteering. Register your team via the KideApp (link down below) between 12.-25.4. (the notification of one group member is enough). The winners, which will be crowned on the official after party, will receive a prize, fame, and glory. More information about the after party down below.

THE AFTER PARTY

When the checkpoints are done, it’s time to move on to the official OSAKO’s Orienteering afterparty! The afterparty starts at 10pm at Heidi’s Bier Bar, and the winning team will be announced at midnight.

Tickets 3€ (+3€ cloackroom). Pre-tickets go with age limit 18, from the door the age limit is 20. Tickets go on sale on KideApp 20.4. at 3pm.
